Our Charge, Our Next Steps
In January 2024, the Capital Campaign Steering Committee was authorized by the Session to use a portion of the funds specially earmarked from the sale of the Manse to develop a building master plan using contracted professionals, under the guidance of the committee.
The insights from the Dreams and Visions Task Force (2022/3) and Building Assessment Team (2023) highlighted the problems of an aging building that has been draining the church of critical funds, attention, and energy. This work, and the work of others from past years, along with discussions with other renovated churches; historic architects; project managers; grant writers; and fundraisers, brings us to this juncture.
All of them confirmed that CHPC is ready to take the next step: forming a steering committee and contracting with professionals who know how to synthesize our needs into a concrete project and master plan. The next planning phase will include contracting with a Project Manager and then an architectural firm and fundraising consultant. These will work with the Committee to form a Master Plan based on the information we’ve gathered, additional professional assessment, and input from the congregation. Hiring contractors will happen in the next 2 months and the Master Plan is intended to be completed by the end of the year.
The Commission encourages everyone to reach out with questions and input, and we will be providing regular updates and opportunities for conversation with the Session, the church, and the community.
